CandyLand Amusement Park (Atlanta, Georgia)
Candyland Amusement Park was established in 1922 in the city of Atlanta, Georgia. The founder and author of the amusement park's characters, John Jones, had a vision of success as a young child. He worked for the local city hall in Atlanta longing for ideas to make the city more enjoyable.
On December 4, 1922, John's dream of an amusement park was plotted on paper and shipped to construction workers. Him and a few other city hall workers began to plan out other parts of the park. John suggested the entire park be made of candy. The children rides, the concession stands, the roller coaster rails and every other aspect.
The park opened on April 23, 1924. It took two years for John's dream to come true. When it finally did, John begin to hire workers. His workers set out to different areas of the park practicing for their new customers. The first family to try everything out was John's. His two daughters and three sons loved the parks elements. The rides, the food, the scenery and the prizes! It gave Mrs. Jones a break as she rested in the tanning area at the front of the park.
As the park got larger, Mrs. Jones friends expanded from all areas of Atlanta. People began to bring their children and allow them to run free. Of course it was safe with the patrol officers lurking throughout the park. All of the moms and dads could rest knowing their kids were protected.
Around 2000, the park grew larger and larger. When it reached around 2014, the park grew worldwide. Landing parks in almost 30 different parts of the United States! How wonderful have our fans and supporters raised our forefather John's dream.
